Holts normally holds four main auctions each year. Between the main auctions, Game & Gun also hosts free valuation days at selected locations in Denmark.
Premium, VAT & buying from the UK.
Buying and selling through a UK auction house involves a few additional considerations. We help our clients understand the process and the practical implications before making a decision.
PREMIUM
25% up to £100,000
20% applies to the portion of the hammer price above £100,000. VAT may apply to the premium depending on the transaction and destination.
20%
VAT may be payable on the seller's premium at the applicable rate.
BUYING AFTER BREXIT
Look for the EU flag.
Lots in the Holts catalogue may be marked with an EU flag. This can be important when determining how VAT and customs treatment applies when a lot is brought back into the EU.
Customs treatment depends on the origin of the item. Items produced in the UK may be treated differently from items originally produced outside the UK.
VAT treatment depends on factors including the age and origin of the item and whether the conditions for re-import of EU goods can be documented.
Auction premiums, VAT rules, customs treatment and import requirements can change and may depend on the individual lot. We recommend confirming the applicable terms before bidding.
